Alaska Vacation My husband and I just returned from a 16 day Canada, Alaska vacation that was unbelievable! We started with a 2 day train ride thru Canada, arriving in Vancouver B.C. From there we boarded the Carnival Spirit, where we Explored the Alaska, Inside Passage, arriving in Whittier, Alaska. From there we spent the next 3 days exploring the Alaska interior. It was a great trip! Below are the photo's of the amazing beauty nature has to offer.
The Carnival Spirit was our home as we sailed from Vancouver to Anchorage. I recommend a balcony cabin on the land side of the ship. While sailing the inside passage, you have beautiful scenery on both sides of the ship. We loved sitting outside and watching the Glaciers and mountains go by.
Our first stop on the cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage was Ketchikan. You can pick up a walking map at the visitor center right at the pier and do your own tour or do the many tours that our available from your cruise ships shore excursion office. Be on the look out for Eagles. They were everywhere.
Our next stop was in Juneau. We rented a car and went has far as the road could take us. Juneau is only accessible by boat or plane. This is the Juneau Ice Field.
This is a picture of the Glacier Gardens in Juneau. These trees were uprooted during a mudslide and replanted upside down.
Downtown Skagway.
The beautiful Alaska interior.
A Glacier in the College Fjords. It was a great view from our Balcony. The ship had a naturalist on staff and she would let you know if any wildlife was up ahead. We would look for land animals as well as whales, and dolphins.
We stayed at the Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge, a short distance from Denali. The lodge was beautiful and the food was great.
Another sunset on a fantastic vacation. If you've never done an Alaska cruise, you should try to at least once in your life. The train trip from Calgary to Vancouver was icing on the cake.
