Hawaii

The pictures on this page are from my vacation in October,2001. We spent the first 7 days on the cruise ship, Patriot of the United States Cruise Line. While this cruise line went out of business, NCL now cruises the islands.

This is me at Waikiki Beach. I'm on the pier. Behind me are some of the great hotels of Waikiki Beach.

This is a beach on the Road to Princeville. It was very secluded, with a nice hike to get down to it.

This is the Wailua Waterfall off the road between Princeville and Lihue on Maalo Road.

This is a view from the famous "Road to Hanna". The scenery is beautiful. Pack a lunch and enjoy treking along a mountain road where rainforest terrain, and waterfalls await your every turn.

After visiting Hanna, and enjoying a swim at their black sand beach, visit the Seven Scared Pools. During the rainy season or during a flash flood, the water can sweep you into the sea.

This is a view of the west side of the Island of Maui. If you like to be a little adventurous, take the northern route from Kahului to Kapalua. It is off limits to rental cars, but it was a great time.

This is a blow hole on the coast heading toward Kapalua.

Here, I'm at Iao Needle,in the Iao Valley, the site of one of Hawaii's bloodiest battles between 2 tribal chiefs. The Valley is breath taking, with streams and lush foliage.

Hawaii, was a great trip. Cruising first and then spending another week on Kauai and Maui worked out better than I first thought. It gave us time to explore these Islands in greater detail, and also enjoy the beaches and water. Our most enjoyable days were when we went out on our own. Rent a jeep and explore.
